Yaletown PropertiesYaletown was named in the nineteenth
century when the Canadian Pacific Railroad moved its rail yards and
repair facilities from Yale, in the Fraser River canyon, to the new
Yaletown in Vancouver and the name stuck. Canadian Pacific built a roundhouse
in the area still in use today as the Roundhouse Community Centre, at
the corner of Pacific and Drake, and nearby many Yaletown properties.
This features the famous Centennial Steam train, the first of which
to cross Canada upon completion of the railroad, which is an important
part of Canadian history. Yaletown properties benefit from the revitalization
of the False Creek waterfront community in recent years. Formerly a
warehouse district where textile shops and train yards provided little
in the way of beauty or entertainment, Yaletown properties have been
transformed into one of Vancouver's hippest areas. Yaletown properties
benefit from sidewalk cafes, trendy restaurants, a thriving nightlife
scene and intimate boutique hotels.
Yaletown properties are a very desirable
area for young professional Vancouverites to work, live and play. Self
contained within a small radius of only a few city blocks, Yaletown
properties are a fabulous part of the Vancouver community. This area
will only become more valuable as land becomes scarce for Yaletown properties.
